Inbound & outbound cross-docking
Freight received at one door and dispatched from another with minimal dwell — the core flow-through move.
Service 03 — Cross-Docking
Freight received, sorted, consolidated, and sent back out with minimal dwell time — reducing handling, cutting storage cost, and accelerating delivery.
Overview
Storage is a cost. Cross-docking removes most of it by treating the warehouse as a flow-through, not a holding pen.
Cross-docking flows freight from the inbound door to the outbound door with little or no time on a shelf in between. Loads arrive, are broken down and sorted by destination, are re-consolidated onto outbound trailers, and leave — often the same day. The building becomes a sorting point rather than a storage point.
That suits fast-moving, time-sensitive, and pre-allocated freight especially well: retail replenishment, LTL that needs re-sorting, and shipments already committed to a customer. Because product isn't put away and picked again, you skip two of the most expensive and error-prone steps in the warehouse.
Our drive-through bays and control-tower scheduling keep inbound and outbound carriers in sync, so trailers spend their time moving instead of waiting on a door.
What's included
Everything needed to turn freight around fast, without it touching a storage rack.
Freight received at one door and dispatched from another with minimal dwell — the core flow-through move.
Re-sort less-than-truckload freight or push full truckloads straight through, whichever the lane calls for.
Loose or mixed freight built into clean, shippable pallets and reworked to each receiver's requirements.
Pallets secured and shipments repacked so goods travel stable, protected, and compliant.
Outbound trailers built to maximise cube and weight, lowering the cost per unit shipped.
Selection at case or full-pallet level to assemble the exact outbound configuration each order needs.
Inbound freight sorted by destination and staged at the right door, ready for its outbound carrier.
Inbound and outbound carriers scheduled from the control tower so hand-offs line up cleanly.
Expedited flows for time-critical freight that has to be back on the road the same day.
How we handle it
The flow a load follows from inbound arrival to outbound departure.
Inbound freight arrives at a drive-through bay, is checked against its manifest, and is scanned into the flow.
Product is broken down and staged by outbound lane, not put away — so it never enters storage.
Outbound loads are built, optimised for cube and weight, wrapped, and made ready to travel.
The outbound carrier — pre-scheduled to line up with the inbound — loads and departs with minimal dwell.
Why it matters
The value of cross-docking is measured in time and touches removed.
Freight that flows through doesn't accrue storage charges or tie up rack space.
Same-day turnaround shortens lead times and gets product to customers sooner.
Skipping put-away and picking cuts labour and the errors those steps introduce.
Consolidation and load optimisation lower the cost per unit on every outbound trailer.
